Skip to content Live & Venture 삶과 벤처에 관한 이야기 by 윤필구 Menu About the Author 어머니를 추모하며 November 26, 2021 November 26, 2021 ~ Phil Yoon ~ 7 Comments 아래 10여초 짜리 영상은 올해 3월 어머니와 산책하며 셀카 비디오를 찍은 것이다. 지나가는 사람이 보면 굉장히 이상한 광경인데, 멀쩡해 보이는 40대 아저씨는 휠체어에 앉아있고 허리가 많이 굽은 노모는 뒤에서 힘겹게 휠체어를 끌고 있기 때문이다. 보통이라면 반대가 되어야 할텐데 말이다. 이렇게 이상한 광경으로 30분 정도 어머니와 산책을 하노라면, 지나가던 행인 중 꼭 몇명은 어머니에게 다가와서 “제가 밀어드릴까요?” 하고 호의를 베풀곤 했다. 그때마다 나는 “아 괜찮습니다. 어머니 운동 하시는거에요” 라고 손사래를 저어야 했다. 사연은 이렇다. 어머니가 공원 산책길 까지는 휠체어를 타고 가셔야 했고, 공원에 도착해서는 휠체어를 보행기 삼아 걷기 연습을 하시곤 했다. 그런데 빈 휠체어를 보행기로 쓰면 무게감이 없어서 앞쪽이 들려 버리기 때문에 누군가 앉아 있어야 훨씬 안정감 있는 보행기가 되었다. 그래서 내가 앉아서 휠체어에 무게감을 주고, 두발을 땅에 딛으면서 언덕 등에서는 휠체어가 앞으로 나아가는 것을 조금씩 도와드렸다. (사진처럼 빈 휠체어를 밀면 휠체어 앞쪽이 들려서 다소 불안해진다) 주중에는 바쁘다는 핑계로 거의 찾아뵙지 못했지만, 주말에 이렇게 근처 공원에서 어머니와 산책을 하곤 했는데 지금 생각하면 참 소중한 시간이였다. 중간중간에 벤치에 앉아 쉬면서 두런두런 이야기 나눴던 기억도 많다. 언제 한번은 어머니가 컨디션이 별로 안 좋을때 내가 다소 무리해서 모시고 나왔는데, 조금 걸으시고 힘에겨워 다리가 부들부들 떨리시면서도 ‘한바퀴 더 돌겠다’ 라고 하셨을 땐, 의지가 굉장히 강하신 분임을 깨닫기도 했다. +++ 살면서 어머니의 손을 잡아 드렸던 적이 별로 없던것 같다. 코흘리개 꼬맹이
